Birchbox August

My August BB finally arrived on Friday late afternoon (I JUST got to open it this morning as Friday was hectic & I worked yesterday!), and I have to say, I am quite pleased with it : )

The August theme is Finishing School (there is the cute little card to tell you about it & your products), which focuses on finishing touches. BB has also collaborated with Ann Taylor for this months box and you can see a list of what they are deeming "fall's best accessory trends"-images included. Also, they have added an Ann Taylor coupon.

Buffing beads, hair treatment, oil free moisturizer, ModelCo lipstick, and oil free face cleanser wipes.

I'm excited to have received the ModelCo lipstick, but red never seems to work out for me, so I'm a little disappointed that I got this shade... I dunno, I always feel like red lipstick makes my teeth look yellow and I get really paranoid... does anyone else feel that way??

I did try the hair treatment today after my shower in place of the other products that I generally use in my hair and I even though today was only my first day of using it, I must say I was impressed! When I first smelled it through the bottle, it kind of reminded me of a bug deterrant that my grandmother used to use. After squirting some out, it smelled more manly to me. But, my hair was SO SOFT after I blow dried it today....!!

If you're interested in receiving great products such as these in your mailbox every month for only $10, sign up here! Your account will be billed on the 1st of every month and boxes begin to ship around the 10th.

Ipsy August

My August Ipsy bag FINALLY arrived! Apparently there were some shipping issues this month with the DHL service and many of their bags were rerouted. People were upset. I'm talking, pissed off, threatening to unsubscribe, cutting a huge hissy upset over this. Now, I will say, I did check my tracking email several times just to see the whereabouts of my bag and the possible arrival time, but geez, I knew the bag would arrive eventually!
On the 8th it started out in NC then went to IL where it sat for four days! On the 14th it arrived in KY and on the 15th it made it to GA. Finally, on the 16th it arrived in VA where it was delivered to me. Wow.

Anywho, this month's theme of the bag is Glamour Academy...
There is a card included telling you about a "Lash Bash" party from Benefit. There are more details on the Ipsy Facebook page.
Above, you can see the card showing all of the different brands that were offered this month and what discounts you can receive with those brands. I must say, I was really really hoping for the UD lipstick to be in my bag!
Here is what the Glamour Academy bag looks like. I am really not a fan of it. It's cute, but I think it is more suited for a younger girl. I really don't think I would carry this.
The contents are
- Michael Todd Organics Pumpkin rich facial mask
-City Color Cheek Stain
-Noya Lip Balm Cherry
-MICA Beauty loose eyeshadow in Bronze
-PIXI Lash Booster Mascara (I have not opened it yet, but this is seriously the smallest tube of mascara I have seen that is not one of those little samples!)
And here you can see what the colors of the eyeshadow and cheek stain look like.

Three of these brands I have never heard of (City Color, NOYA, and Michael Todd Organics) so I'm excited to try those. Although, I am horrible about remembering I have facial masks, I have super oily skin so I'm not sure how well a cheek stick will work for me, and I have a zillion lip balms!

Mail Call!

Look what finally came in the mail?!

New AVON Glazewear Lipgloss!

AVON has revamped their makeup line and it is launching in C19. They will have the same products that you know and love, but with better formulas! It was later in the evening when I opened my order, so I know the pics are darker than usual... They are promising true colors~~ basically saying that whatever color you see in the tube or in the palette will be that same shade after you have applied it. We all know what a bummer it is to see an awesome shade of lipstick and then to apply it and have it look NOTHING like that on our lips!!

Anywho, I have always been a fan of their Ultra Glazewear lipglosses so I picked out two colors I thought would be safe for my fair skin (the tube on the right was actually recommended for fair skin in their brochure).

L- Pink Watermelon
R- Citrus Shine

They do offer three finishes of the Lip Glazes- Cream, Shimmer, and Sparkle. Pink Watermelon is listed as a Shimmer and Citrus Shine is listed as a Sparkle.

I do love their new sleek design as opposed to their old rounder shape

Pardon the "toothepaste" pics as one of my favorite bloggers Daphne calls them (I had no other makeup on & dirty hair. I'm not about to do a full pic!!)
Here is the Citrus Shine with the flash on
And Citrus Shine without the flash

Pink Watermelon without flash

Here they are swiped on the back of my hand. You can see that neither has a whole lot of pigmentation, but after I had applied my makeup, I was pleased with how they both looked with my fair skin. These are easy to apply, they are not messy AT ALL, and my favorite part of all was whatever they put in this new formula has made it feel more luxurious! There was ZERO stickiness! These glosses will be on introductory special at $3.99 and have a regular price of $6. But, I'm telling you, if there were no label on them, they could easily pass for a much more expensive brand! There are currently 23 different shades available. Definitely be on the lookout for these- available through your local AVON rep or online!

theBalm Cosmetics 50% off-- Woot!

Are you a fan of theBalm Cosmetics? Or maybe you've heard of it and always wanted to try something from them but never did because you thought it was a little pricey? Well, get yourself over to HauteLook right now! The sale is good through this Saturday at 8AM Pacific time or until an item is sold out. But, these are current items, not discontinued!!

Mary-Lou Manizer is an awesome highlighter that can also be used as an eyeshadow. I received a sample size of this from Birchbox several months ago and was blown away by this product! It's regular price is $24.00, but with this sale, you can grab it up for only $12!
The Nude'tude palette, generally compared to one of the Nakeds from UD, regularly $36, on sale for $18! And I'm seriously contemplating this one...

Hot Mama blush/shadow! This one will be mine! Regular price is $20, sale price only 10 bucks!

Seriously, there are a lot of things to choose from and they are FULL SIZE!

My Sephora Treat

Since I have an upcoming birthday (21 again!!ha!) and wanted to get the Benefit birthday freebie from Sephora and really don't have a store close to me, (I had been trying to figure out something small to order to get that freebie), I thought I might as well go ahead and treat myself and score the free shipping.

Now, I've had my eyes on this NARS combo for quite some time-Orgasm/Laguna- and decided just to order the mini (yes, it is back in stock) because there are so many conflicting reviews on it suddenly, which is weird because it seems like I have been reading/seeing how great/versatile of a color that Orgasm is for years. Oh, I'm not 100% for sure, but I'm thinking this might be the first product I've owned from NARS.

The other really took me awhile to decide on. I've been wanting a UD palette, particularly a Naked one, but didn't know which to choose because they all looked perfect! But, I finally decided on the Basics since its more matte and figured maybe more versatile.

It really looks like I got of goodies because of my free samples- Bamboo Antifrizz shampoo, conditioner, and Kendi oil, MUFE Smoky Extravagant Mascara, and Living Proof Satin Hair Serum/ my Bday goodies from Benefit/ and I had a code for a freebie (no points required) Murad Clarifying Cleanser that's actually a nice size, 2 oz to be exact!!
